Myrtle Beach, Marlboro County firefighters assist in battling large warehouse blaze in Sumter

SUMTER, S.C. (WMBF) – Area fighters helped to contain a large warehouse fire that broke out in Sumter Tuesday night.

According to a Facebook post from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, four of their firefighters were among those from around the state to assist in battling the blaze at the former VB Williams Furniture Plant, which is now known as Howell’s Recyclable Materials.

Additionally, firefighters from Marlboro County and the city of Bennettsville traveled to Sumter to help area crews.

“We appreciate the hard work of our firefighters and First Responders and thank them for their service,” a post on the Marlboro County Government’s Facebook page stated.

No injuries were reported and officials do not believe that anyone was in the building when the fire started.
