HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Authorities in Horry County are searching for a suspect after a person was reportedly shot inside their apartment, police said Wednesday morning.

Around midnight, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Mr. Joe White Avenue and Nance Street, according to Myrtle Beach Police Cpl. Tom Vest.

Vest added a person called authorities from the Baypointe Apartments to report they had been shot while inside their home. That person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by EMS on scene, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

Around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, officers attempted to stop a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting near Robert Grissom Parkway and Highway 501, according to Vest.

The car fled outbound on Highway 501, then southbound on Highway 17 Bypass where Horry County police were called in to assist, Vest added.

The driver eventually stopped and fled on foot into the commerce area of George Bishop Parkway near the former Freestyle Music Park

WMBF News reporter Kate Merriman said officers towed the red vehicle pictured below from the scene.
