HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – An area family has a new roof over their heads.
Habitat for Humanity of Horry County dedicated its 154th home Friday afternoon.
Dana Johnson and her 1 -year-old daughter Giana are moving into the home in Village of Dreams in Myrtle Beach.
Johnson was accepted into the Habitat Home Buyer Program in September 2017 due to dangerous housing conditions. She said the new home is a blessing.
“I just want to say thank you to Habitiat, definitely. Without them I don’t know how else this would have been possible,” Johnson said. “They do a lot to help in the community and it’s just one of those families that are very grateful for that.”
Besides a new home, she said the Habitat Home Buyer program has provided her a chance at independence and the opportunity for homeownership.
Johnson hopes to pass that onto her daughter.
