One killed in vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Highway 501

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One person was killed in a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on Highway 501 Sunday morning.

The Horry County Coroners office has identified the victim as 36-year-old Daryl Isaac Cook of Myrtle Beach.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, it happened around 5:35 a.m. Troopers say a van was using the on-ramp from Highway 501 North to River Oaks exit, when it struck a pedestrian (Cook) that was walking in the roadway.

The driver of the van was not hurt.

Officials say no charges are expected to be filed against the driver. SC Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
