Entire city of Georgetown loses power during Dorian

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WMBF) – The city of Georgetown is completely without power, according to Georgetown Emergency Management Department.

Officials said the power outage is due to the failure of the main transmission line from Santee Cooper.

It’s not clear how long it will take to restore power.

For a time, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line, which is 843-546-5102, was temporarily knocked out of service by Hurricane Dorian. As of about 12:30 a.m. Friday, the line has been restored.

The county’s 911 emergency line remains intact, along with a non-emergency line to Central Dispatch which is 843-527-6763. People are being told to use that non-emergency line until further notice.
