MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flood Warning for the Waccamaw River in Conway.
The Waccamaw River quickly rose after the heavy rain from Hurricane Dorian. Upwards of 10″ of rain fell across Horry County and pushed the river into moderate flood stage. As of 4 PM Friday, the river was nearing the forecast crest of 12.3′. A slow fall out of flood stage is expected through early next week.
For comparision, the record crest during Hurricane Florence was 21.2′, almost 9′ higher than the current flooding. Little rain is in the forecast over the next seven days.
