One taken to hospital after truck loses its load on U.S. 501 near Galivants Ferry

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Traffic was snarled on the southside of U.S. 501 at the bridge near Galivants Ferry Tuesday morning after a log truck lost its load, according to information from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The SCHP tweet came out around 8:45 a.m.

For a time, drivers were encouraged to use S.C. 41 to U.S. 378 as an alternate route to Conway. As of about 12:45 p.m., lanes of U.S. 501 have reopened near the incident site.

The driver of truck was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
