MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - It’s been a wet start to the weekend as a stalled front kept showers in the area all afternoon. There are signs the rain will be winding down later tonight.
Rain totals have varied with some soaking up a lot, while others hardly got a drop. North Myrtle Beach, Little River, Conway and Dillon all picked up an estimated 2 inches of rain. Meanwhile Myrtle Beach and Florence are around 1 inch and the South Strand has seen less than 0.25 inch.
Tonight the rain chances slowly go down. By the time you wake up Sunday morning, we will see drier skies, but the potential for fog. The latest trends drop the rain chances down significantly. Most of the area has a good chance of staying sunny all day! Humidity will still be present so the mugginess will be a factor. High temperatures stay in the upper 80s to near 90s.
Back to School Monday: Most of the morning commute for students and parents across the Grand Strand and most of the Pee Dee will be dry. Make sure to pack some rain gear for the bus ride home though since the shower chances increase Monday afternoon.
