MCCOLL, S.C. (WMBF) – McColl police officers arrested one person in a deadly double shooting Sunday night.

Jelisa Shante Adams, 26, from McColl is charged with murder, attempted murder, pointing and presenting a firearm and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

McColl police responded Sunday night to Roosevelt Street to a call about two people being shot.

One of the victims was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. His name has not been released.

The other victim was flown to another area hospital where his condition remains uncertain, but police say he was ‘gravely injured.’

McColl Police Chief Billy Stubbs contacted the State Law Enforcement Division to assist in processing the crime scene. The Marlboro Sheriff’s Office and the Clio Police Department were also called in to assist.

“It was a joint effort between the McColl Police Department, Marlboro County Sheriff's Office, the Clio Police Department, and the State Law Enforcement Division during the course of this Investigation and without their assistance we would not have been able to make an arrest in this case as swiftly as we did,” McColl police posted on their Facebook page.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Anyone with knowledge about the shooting is asked to contact the McColl Police Department at 843-523-5223.
