ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WMBF) – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 1-year-old child, according to Sheriff Burnis Wilkins.
A RCSO press release said deputies were called to the Southeastern Medical Center just before midnight Tuesday for an unresponsive child.
The girl, identified as Jadalyn Barton, was brought to the medical center by her parents, where she was pronounced dead, the release stated.
An autopsy will be performed by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the 1-year-old’s cause of death.
The case is being investigated by the RCSO’s homicide and juvenile divisions. The Robeson County District Attorney’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
