GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a shooting Wednesday morning in Georgetown County.
A press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office states 50-year-old David Britton Jr., is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing on charges of attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
The Horry Georgetown Drug Enforcement Unit filed an unrelated charge of marijuana distribution after Britton was in custody, according to authorities.
The release states deputies were called to Columbus Road and Bertie Lane in the Sampit community after reports came in of shots fired.
According to the GCSO, the victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
