Driver dies after being ejected from car in Marlboro County crash

MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash that happened early Monday morning in Marlboro County.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Judd Jones, the collision happened around 1 a.m. on Bruton Fork Church Road, in the Bennettsville area.

The driver of a 2004 Buick was traveling east when the car ran off the right side of the road, struck a drainage culvert and overturned several times, Jones said.

He added the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Jones. The name has not yet been released and the crash remains under investigation.
