One killed near Darlington County convenience store, deputies investigating as homicide

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Darlington County officials are attempting to put all the pieces together a Sunday after a shooting an at an area convenience store left one dead.

Official say 24-year-old Desmond Coe of Hartsville was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officials have released a picture of an alleged suspect in connection to the fatal shooting.

Deputies say they were dispatched to the Markette convenience store at the corner of W. Bobo Newsom Hwy. and W. Old Camden Rd. around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in response to a shooting call.

Once on the scene deputies say they found on person shot. The Darlington County Coroner has ruled the death a homicide.

Darlington County Coroners Office, Darlington County Sheriff Office and SLED are each investigating the murder.
