PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) – A Pawleys Island woman got video of a four-legged wilderness creature making itself at home in the neighborhood – a black bear.
Valerie Kane filmed the animal Wednesday night around 5:50 p.m., at the corner of U.S. 17 and Willbrook Boulevard. She said she followed it down Wall Street.
WARNING: The video does contain some profanity.
It’s the latest in an increase in black bear sightings along the Grand Strand.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said the increase is mostly due to habitat loss.
Coastal residents are now asked to take precautions this summer by putting away birdfeeders, cleaning grills and keeping garbage out of the bears’ reach.
