Mom’s challenge ends with twins graduating top of their class
Tamera and Tia Holt said they would, and that’s what they did
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A set of Montgomery twins claimed the top two spots of their graduating class. Tamera and Tia Holt promised they would graduate at the top of their class at Sidney Lanier High school, and that’s exactly what they did.
Tamera is valedictorian and Tia is salutatorian.
“We’ve been honor roll students our whole entire year, even in elementary school to middle school. And now, we’ve just been working off and it paid off,” Tia explained.
“We’ll just boost each other up, like our spirit and stuff. Like, I’ll be down, Tia will boost me up. She’ll be down, I’ll boost her up,” Tamera added.
The idea started sometime in the 10th grade, the two recalled, when their mom suggested they make it their goal. They joked she offered the valedictorian $100 and the salutatorian $75. Time to pay up, Mom!
The two are always together. “When you see one, you see both,” they joked. That is except for sports their senior year. Tamera said Tia left her “heartbroken” when she decided to do track instead of softball.
The Holts have big plans for the future. Tamera is going for a degree in biology while Tia is opting for one in chemistry. They’re both going to UAB where they hope to graduate on top again.
