HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Officers helped free two women who were trapped in an SUV following a crash in Horry County.

On Monday, an Horry County police officer was responding to a call near Pisgah Church Road outside Aynor when he was alerted to a car crash, according to an online post from HCPD.

The responding officer, identified as Cpl. Dewitt, found a rollover crash with two women trapped inside an SUV. Chief Thompson and Officer Brown with the Aynor Police Department also responded to the scene, the post states.

Suspended and restrained upside down in the vehicle, one of the women said she could not breath. The officers worked together to break three windows, force open a door, cut the women’s seatbelts and free them from the vehicle, according to the post. HCPD said the officers comforted the victims until crews from Horry County Fire Rescue arrived.

“Following the crash, we found out the women in the car are members of the HCPD family - the mother and sister of Officer Hucks. Fortunately, while a bit beat up, both are expected to make a full recovery,” the post states.
