HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of an ambulance last month that had three people inside.
According to information from the Horry County Police Department, 32-year-old Robert Tyler Reeves is charged with first-degree assault and battery, kidnapping and grand larceny.
He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on May 10, and released the next day on a $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
Police allege that Reeves threatened hospital staff at Grand Strand Medical Center on April 28 before eluding security and staff and exiting the building near the EMS bay.
According to HCPD, at approximately 9:47 a.m., the subject stole an Horry County Fire Rescue ambulance that was parked in the bay with two individuals and a medic in the back.
Police say the subject then drove the ambulance around the hospital’s parking lot, causing damage to property along the way.
Myrtle Beach Police were able to apprehend the suspect in 5 minutes according to a release. No one was injured in the incident.
