Firefighters from Johnsonville, Hannah-Salem-Friendfield, Howe Springs and Olanta fire departments were called in to provide mutual aid.

South Lynches Fire Chief Robbie Steele said the fire started in the back of the home and quickly spread to main part of the home. He said the wind played a factor in how fast the fire spread.

Firefighters used water from the pond at the home to extinguish the fire.
