LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – Police are urging a shooting suspect to turn himself in after he was released from the hospital.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 26-year-old Demarreon McDaniel for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy.
Investigators said McDaniel and a second suspect, 27-year-old Sterling Hester, went to a home last week in the 1100 block of Cherokee Street with the intent to rob the tenant.
Police said the suspects pulled a gun on the tenant, but the tenant pulled out his own gun and shot McDaniel.
Hester has been arrested in the case.
Anyone who has knowledge of McDaniel’s whereabouts is asked to call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845 and speak with Detectives Robert Nolley or Charles Keenum.
If anyone outside of the Lumberton area sees him, call your local law enforcement immediately.
