NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Sand pumping scheduled to begin Monday in North Myrtle Beach has been delayed several days after strong offshore winds and waves have slowed pipe mobilization, the city said in a news release.

The project, which will see sand placed on 2.7 miles of the city’s nine miles of beach, begins at Sea Mountain Highway and moves north to 54th Avenue North, while the other leg extends from Ocean Creek Drive to 43rd Avenue South.

During active sand pumping, the vast majority of the beach will remain open and available to the public.
