CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – One of Coastal Carolina University’s leaders has stepped down.
Ralph Byington has resigned as the school’s provost and executive vice president.
He was appointed to in March 2014 to the position of provost and July 2015 as executive vice president and provost.
The university’s website says that during his time as vice president and provost, Byington served on the President’s Council and chairs the Executive Council. He was also responsible for the operations of five academic colleges, assessment and accreditation, academic administration, Kimbel Library, Campus Life and Student Engagement, Admissions and Merit Awards, Global Initiatives, Information Technology Services, Graduate Studies, the Registrar, Institutional Research, Operations, Summer Initiatives and First Year Success, Auxiliary Enterprises, Student-Athlete Academic Services and Public Safety.
The university said an interim appointment to fill Byington’s position will be made in the coming days.
