FIRST ALERT: Increasing storm chances through Mother’s Day

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Storm activity stays mostly west of our area this evening, but the chances go up tomorrow .

A few isolated showers and storms are possible tonight, leaving us with a few morning showers and muggy conditions for the start of Mother’s Day morning. Any showers should be done by 10AM. Low temperatures stay in the low 70s.

The middle of the day will be drier and give the atmosphere time to recharge. High temperatures will be warm, upper 80s inland and around 82 along the coast. The time frame for storms firing up would be after 5PM Sunday evening and last until about 9PM.

Any storms that develop on Sunday could be on the strong side. We’re not expecting a lot of severe weather but strong, gusty winds and heavy rain are likely within any storms. Most of the rain will be through the afternoon and evening with any storms winding down after sunset Sunday.
