Report: Suspects in Conway record their crime on Facebook Live

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Police may put an “angry face” reaction on this suspected crime.

An officer was patrolling around 2 a.m. Saturday in the area of Church Street, near Mon Café, when the officer noticed a wooden pallet was on fire in a dumpster.

The Conway Fire Department put out the fire and cleared the situation.

About 30 minutes later, the officer was alerted that a witness wanted to talk about the dumpster fire.

According to a police report, the witness told the officer that she observed two suspects on Facebook live setting the fire. The witness said the two suspects hid in the woods and recorded firefighters putting out the fire.

The witness said she watched the live feed on Facebook under a group called “Heroin Hunnies.”

The police report states that the witness was able to give the officer the names of the suspects involved.

The officer and two others responded back to the location and found the two suspects sleeping in a tent inside a wooded area behind the dumpster.

The two were identified as 41-year-old Jerry Wade Moore and 29-year-old Vince Lee Pitts.

The two were arrested for third-degree arson, but a judge did not find enough probably cause to issue warrants for arson. Instead, the judge issued warrants for malicious damage, according to police documents.
