DILLON, SC (WMBF) – Dillon’s mayor-elect, already facing child pornography charges, found himself back in jail Friday for an alleged traffic offense.

An employee at the Dillon County Detention Center confirmed that John Corey Jackson was booked for driving under suspension, first offense.

Jackson saw a judge earlier on Friday and was given a personal recognizance bond in this case, according to the detention center employee. He was arrested by the Dillon Police Department. According to the police chief, the arrest followed a traffic crash.

Jackson’s attorney, Rose Mary Parham, told WMBF News that Jackson didn’t realize his license was suspended. Parham said that Jackson had at least one unpaid traffic ticket but is working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Earlier this week, Jackson turned himself into authorities and was charged with 11 counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor following a state investigation.

Warrants show that between June 2017 until April 23, Jackson asked boys for pictures of their private parts through the social media app Snapchat in exchange for money.

Jackson won the Dillon mayor’s race on April 16. He is currently set to be sworn in on May 30.
