HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A judge sentenced a Longs man to 18 years in prison for shooting and killing a man from Florida.

Anthony Leon Bellamy, 40, pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in Jason Sprott’s death.

Authorities said Bellamy shot and killed Sprott in October 2017 on Freemont Road in Longs.

“We commend the job well done by Detective Amy Hardwick and the Horry County Police Department,” said Seth Oskin, the assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case. “This was a tragic situation for all parties involved, and we hope the plea helps Mr. Sprott’s family take the next step in the healing process.”

Charges remain pending against a co-defendant in the case.
