MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Another weekend is fast approaching and the SC Weekend crew highlighted great events for Florence and the beaches. Like last weekend, showers and storms are in the forecast but look to be mainly in the afternoon hours.
The Carolina Food Truck Rodeo kicks off on Friday at the Florence Center and continues through Saturday. Highs look warm with readings in the mid-upper 80s for both days with an isolated/scattered chance of showers and storms in the afternoon. Do not cancel your plans to attend. In fact, head out to Florence and eat plenty of great food for the WMBF First Weather Team! Send those photos of the event to us on Facebook and Twitter.
Myrtle Beach Bike Week kicks off on Friday and continues through next Sunday, May 19th. The weather for the opening weekend is warm with a few pop up showers and storms for the afternoon rides. A nice breeze off the ocean and as you ride your bike should help keep you cool.
Saturday features Mayfest on Main in North Myrtle Beach. If you are planning on coming to the event, the forecast looks great. Highs will climb into the lower 80s with plenty of sunshine. It will be humid in the afternoon and a chance for an isolated shower or two in the afternoon hours is still possible. Most of us should remain dry on the beaches for Saturday. WMBF Chief Meteorologist Jamie Arnold, Evening Anchor Eric Weisfield and Meteorologist Andrew Dockery are planning on attending this year. Be sure to stop by and say hello.
Sunday is Mother's Day and it also features our best rain chances at this time. Showers and storms will be scattered by the afternoon hours with better chances in Florence and areas Inland. If you are planning on lunch with your Mom, the weather should be okay! It's only those afternoon plans you should have to worry about.
There are many other events that we couldn't get to this week but you can still have an updated forecast for that event. Download the First Alert Weather App. It's free and avaliable on any Android or iOS device. We will send you updates throughout the week and into the weekend to keep you informed on the forecast.
Have a great rest of the week! The weekend is almost here.
