Police respond to report of gunshots, arrest person who swam into the ocean
One person was arrested after police responded to a report of gunshots near 15th Avenue North Tuesday night in Myrtle Beach.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One person was taken into custody late Tuesday night after a report of gunshots in downtown Myrtle Beach ended with the suspect trying to swim out into the ocean, according to authorities.

A WMBF News crew was at the scene around 15th and 16th avenues north shortly around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday as the search was taking place.

Myrtle Beach Police Cpl. Tom Vest said officers were investigating a report of shots fired. That investigation led them to a person who reportedly swam into the ocean and was eventually taken into custody, he added.

The suspect’s name and specific charges were not immediately available.
