COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A new study released by WalletHub shows that the Palmetto State isn’t very favorable for working moms.
According to the report, South Carolina ranked 49th among the best states for working moms. The study also ranks South Carolina at 47th among all states when it comes to highest gender pay gap and 50th in lowest female executive-to-male executive ratio.
The study compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia in child care, professional opportunities, and work life. Those dimensions used 16 different metrics using a 100-point scale. The weighted average from each dimension was used to determine the overall scores used to rank each state.
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut were the top three states, according to the report. Alabama and Louisiana were the only states to trail South Carolina in the rankings.
