Charleston’s Hominy Grill closes after nearly 24 years

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A popular Charleston restaurant served the community for the last time Sunday, weeks after announcing its planned closure.
The Hominy Grill, located on Rutledge Avenue, a staple for Southern Food like shrimp and grits, she crab soup and fried green tomatoes, opened in 1996.
An post on Instagram earlier this month set Sunday as their final day in operation.
“It is hard to say goodbye to all of this,” the post states. “However, after careful deliberation, we’ve decided that we’re ready for the next chapter.”
The restaurant has won national accolades for its food including the James Beard Award for best chef in the southeast, back in 2008.
