MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 25-year-old man is in custody after police say he robbed a Myrtle Beach convenience store this week.
Devin Jervon Smith was arrested Thursday and charged with armed robbery and third-degree burglary, according to online records from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
On Tuesday night, an employee of Murphy Express on Oak Forest Lane said that at around 9:00 p.m., a young African-American male walked inside the store and asked where the restrooms were, according to a police report.
After telling him they were located outside, the suspect came around the counter with his arm extended toward the employee, demanding that she give him all the money from the register, the report states.
Police say Smith took money from the register before fleeing the scene.
According to the report, the employee never saw a gun, but the suspect had something in his hands wrapped up in a white T-shirt.
An audit of the register showed $238 was missing.
Smith is currently being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail.
