HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Investigators said a report about a woman being robbed during a Tinder date in the Myrtle Beach area was all a lie.
Horry County police said in March, a woman reported that she had been robbed at knifepoint during a date with a man she met on Tinder at Magoo’s Sports and Spirit on Waccamaw Boulevard.
Two individuals were identified as suspects and Horry County Police Department SWAT and Negotiations were called in to locate them. It sparked a brief standoff at the Vinings at The Market Common. Both individuals were arrested and charged.
But HCPD says a further investigation of the incident, including text messages between one of the then-suspect’s phones and surveillance video from the bar, revealed the victim was not being truthful.
Investigators said the woman, identified as Jessica Boyizigies, did not meet the man on Tinder and actually met to buy drugs.
Authorities said Boyizigies provided the money, but when one of the individuals failed to return with the drugs, she decided to lie about being robbed at knifepoint.
Boyizigies was arrested and charged Wednesday with filing a false report of a felony.
Police said all charges against Kevin Doyle and Colin Turnnidge III have been dismissed.
