Duo targeted Myrtle Beach motel with homemade explosive, MBPD says

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police are searching for a pair of suspects Saturday after they say the duo targeted a Myrtle Beach area motel with a Molotov cocktail.

According to a police report from Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers responded to the White Sands Motel Friday evening. Witnesses on the scene told police a pair of suspects in a gold Buick Lasabre threw a Molotov cocktail in the motels parking lot, starting a fire.

Witnesses told police they knew the suspects, according tot he report, spending time with them during the day and even working together at an old job. The report continues, as another witness told police she handed the suspects $20 in cash before they sped off the property.

Police say they observed video surveillance of the incident, seeing the Lasabre leave the parking lot around 8:20 p.m. on Friday just to return 10 minutes later at a high rate of speed, light the cocktail in the back seat before throwing it out the car.

According to the report the device was not thrown at anyone specifically and there was no fire damage to the property. Police say a witness can be seen chasing the vehicle.
