Two arrested on drug charges after report of suspicious vehicle in playground parking lot

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Police arrested two men on drug charges Wednesday following complaints of ongoing criminal activity and drug sales in the parking lot of Legacy Apartments in the Conway area.

According to a news release from the Horry County Police Department, officers found a suspicious vehicle in the community playground occupied by three people. Police say the vehicle was full of smoke and there was a strong odor of marijuana. When police made contact with the occupants, illegal narcotics were observed in plain view in the vehicle, the release states.

Police searched the car and located nine bags of heroin, five bags of crack cocaine, five bags of marijuana (94.6 grams total weight), and a large sum of cash, according to the release.

Police say a loaded handgun was also located, being carried unlawfully by one of the occupants. According to the release, $1,321 was seized from the vehicle.

The following people have been arrested and charged:

Cortez Davis, 18, of Conway:

  • Possession with intent to distribute heroin
  • Possession with intent to distribute crack
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  •  Distribution of a controlled substance in close proximity to a public playground

Ishmeel Bridges, 20, of Conway:

  • Unlawful carry of a pistol
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Distribution of a controlled substance in close proximity to a public playground
