GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Another Grand Strand area is offering programs to benefit children with autism.
According to a press release, the Champion Autism Network will offer sensory-friendly movies at The Strand Theater, located at 710 Front St., in Georgetown. The first, Hotel Transylvania 3, will be shown on Saturday, May 18.
Sensory-friendly means the lights are up, the sound is down and children are free to move around, the release stated.
Also, Pawleys Island Bakery will be Georgetown County’s first business to participate in the CAN card program. Cardholders will receive a 10 percent discount when they present their card, according to the release.
The Champion Autism Network’s goal is to spread autism education and support families dealing with autism.
In 2016, Surfside Beach was named an autism-friendly city. Last year, both the city of Myrtle Beach and Horry County also earned that title.
