SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Surfside Beach Town Council is considering changing the price for oceanfront parking.
Council will vote Tuesday on the first reading of an ordinance that would make parking $2 per hour in any spaces east of Ocean Boulevard.
Currently, most oceanfront parking is $1.75 per hour. At the Surfside Beach Pier, parking is already $2 per hour.
Some say the price increase shouldn’t happen.
“I think if they’re going to raise the rates, it’s just going to make people not want to come to some of the events that they have,” Tracey Foxworth said.
The town council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The ordinance needs to pass two readings in order to go into effect.
