HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Schools officials said work has taken place to rid St. James Elementary School of mold.
Over the weekend, 23 areas of the school were cleaned after testing positive for mold. District officials said some of the areas tested had minor amounts and a few areas had amplified amounts, but not to the point of being a health concern.

District officials said following the cleaning on Saturday, 23 air fresheners were placed in HVAC vents.
They said the freshener's flowery smell is to blame for four students going home early on Monday.
School staff removed some of those air fresheners Monday.
