FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A new food delivery service is coming to Florence. Waitr, an on-demand restaurant app, officially launches Thursday, February 7. Customers can order from a variety of Florence restaurants, and for a flat fee of $5, a driver will deliver the meal.
According to a release from Waitr, they company expects to hire 100 people in the area due to the expected demand. The company has already had success in Greenville and Columbia, before expanding to Florence, its third city in South Carolina.
Restaurants in Florence that have signed on with Waitr include Hwy 55, Little Caesars, Stefano's Italian Restaurant, Jumping J's, Groucho's Deli, Qulture, Los Portales, Beyond Therapy, Fatz, Mamma Mia Pizza, Takis Diner, Rogers BBQ, Tenampa Mexican Restaurant, Jazz on Dargan, Nick's BBQ & Drive In, Phoenix Bar & Grill, Red Bone Alley, Wholly Smokin Barbecue Downtown, Cibo, 1720 Burger Bar, Little China Restaurant, Red Bowl Asian Bistro, McAlister's Deli, Which Wich, Margarita's Mexican Restaurant, Schlotzsky's, King Jefe, Icing Ink, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dolce Vita Cafe & More, Flavors of India, Revival Burger, Teriyaki Madness, Cold Stone Creamery, El Agave Mexican Restaurant, Tropical Smoothie Café, Tubb's Shrimp & Fish Co., Chick-fil-A, Clean Eatz, Moe's Southwest Grill, Miguel's Grill, SC Real Foods, Victor's Restaurant & Bar, Woodstone BBQ & Seafood, Great American Cookie and Live Wire Rok Bar, according to the company.

To celebrate its Florence-area debut, Waitr will be hosting a launch party at El Agave Mexican Restaurant on Thursday, February 7 at 5:00pm. El Agave Mexican Restaurant is located at 147 West Evans Street in Florence. Waitr is encouraging everyone to come out and be part of the city’s launch and meet the local team. Attendees at the free party can expect tasty appetizers, cold drinks and cool “swag” items to take home with them.
Waitr is exceptionally simple to use. After creating an account, you choose a restaurant, browse the fully customizable menu, select your items and tap to submit the order with a credit card. The app can also be used for carryout orders. There is no charge to consumers for placing these orders. In addition, ordering is also available via the Web at waitrapp.com.
