A new study from the National Council for Home Safety and Security ranked the safest cities in South Carolina. They did so by taking data from the FBI and rating each city based on number of crimes per 1,000 people.
They determined Myrtle Beach was the 26th safest city out of 32. Florence was even worse, at 31st out of 32. Conway was 23rd. And on the other end, North Myrtle Beach performed well, ranking 7th out of 32.
The safest city in the state was Charleston. The least safe was Greenwood. It’s also important to note the study eliminated cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI and cities with populations under 10,000.
