MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – An intoxicated man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing a bicycle from the Myrtle Beach Police Department bike shed.

Dispatch told police the suspect, identified as 54-year-old Marvin Patrice Jennings, was caught on camera taking the bike before riding off, according to a police report. Authorities say Jennings was found just after 3:00 a.m. on 12th Avenue North and Kings Highway.

According to the report, Jennings admitted to taking the bicycle and claimed it was his, but authorities said he was not booked into the jail with a bicycle.

Police say when a suspect is released from jail, they are escorted to the shed to retrieve their bike. According to the report, there is no proof Jennings owns a bicycle.

Jail records show Jennings is charged public intoxication and larceny of a bike. The suspect has two or more prior property crime convictions, the report confirms.

Police say the bike was returned to the shed. Jennings is currently being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail.
