Georgia woman charged in Horry County crash that killed a pedestrian bonds out of jail; victim identified

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Georgia woman charged in connection with a crash Sunday night in Horry County that killed one person and injured two others has bonded out of jail.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins confirmed Monday afternoon that Alaina Marie Young faces charges in that crash. Online records from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center state she was booked at 3:19 a.m. Monday and charged with felony DUI resulting in death. Young was released from custody on $10,000 bond at about 4:50 p.m. Monday.

According to the SCHP, the crash happened by the Bass Pro Shop on Highway 17 in the North Myrtle Beach area.

Troopers said a Nissan and a Toyota were traveling south when the Nissan struck two pedestrians and hit the Toyota.

The crash killed one of the pedestrians, while the other pedestrian and the driver of the Nissan were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identified the victim as 32-year-old Ashlin Monteforte, of Myrtle Beach.

Both of the drivers involved and their passengers were wearing seat belts.
