SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Keiry Nalleli Serrano who was last seen at her home on Whisperwhood Drive in Salisbury was found in Texas Thursday. She was found along with her 22-year-old boyfriend, Eduardo Carlos Mendez.
Serrano has returned home and Mendez is in jail in Texas. Officials have not said if he will be transferred to North Carolina.
Keiry’s mother, Blanca Serrano, said that she was taken by surprise when she found her daughter missing from her bedroom at the beginning of the month.
“In the morning the kids were going back to school, I went to go check on Keiry to see if she was there and she was gone,” said Serrano (Serrano spoke to WBTV in Spanish, her quotes have been translated into English).
Police say Mendez spoke to Serrano’s family and said he was heading to Virginia. He was asked to bring Keiry home, and said that he would.
A warrant was issued against Mendez for felonious restraint and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Because Keiry willingly left home with her boyfriend, this was not being considered a kidnapping case and an Amber Alert was not issued.
