Two-time Olympian, CCU assistant track and field coach dies
Services for Dionne Henley will be Jan. 5.

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A two-time Olympian and assistant track and field coach at Coastal Carolina University passed away on Christmas Eve.

According to a CCU press release, funeral services for Dionne Henley will be Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Christian Church located at 1226 Burcale Road.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Henley was a two-time Olympian in the 100m hurdles. Representing Jamaica, Henley reached the semifinals in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and placed fifth in the finals at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the release stated.

She came to CCU in the summer of 2017 and focused on the sprints, hurdles and relays for the Chanticleer’s men’s and women’s track and field programs.

Prior to her arrival at CCU, Henley spent seven years at Central Michigan.
