MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WIS) - A stand-off between Florence City Police and an armed suspect ended without injury Saturday.
According to Lt. Mike Brandt with the FPD, the suspect and officers exchanged fire near the Family Dollar on Lucas Street, before the man fled and barricaded himself inside the store.
Lt. Brandt says officers formed a perimeter around the building and several of the occupants of the business were able to escape during the incident. The FPD tactical team then entered the building and apprehended the suspect without incident.
Authorities with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to assist in the initial incident.
SLED has taken over the investigation.
