DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A suspect is in custody following a fatal shooting Saturday night in Darlington County, according to a news release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
Dre Glorvun Nazier Hampton, 19, of Florence, is charged with murder.
“Investigators went to work immediately collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses,” Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis stated. “We quickly arrested this suspect because of the investigators’ diligent work, and I appreciate the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service with locating Hampton.”
According to Darlington County Coroner JT Hardee, the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Jerome Robinson, of Florence.
Investigators believe Hampton shot the victim on Welling Farm Road Saturday night. Deputies say Robinson was then driven from the scene to a convenience store parking lot at Timmonsville Highway and Hoffemeyer Road.
Hampton was denied bond Monday by a Darlington County magistrate. Deputies say they are seeking additional charges.
According to the release, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Forensic Services Unit is assisting.
