MAXTON, NC (WMBF) - Police in Maxton are investigating what led to the shooting of a man and the death of a teenager in Robeson County early Thursday morning.

McDowell says Trivon Robinson, 20, and Diqueena McGirt, 16, became engaged in a fight before shots were fired.  A person who lives in the apartment where the shooting happened says when she came into the living room after hearing gunshots, she found McGirt on the floor.

The witness says Robinson was nowhere to be found.

According to reports, Robinson was later to be found shot at 507B Holly Court.

Both McGirt and Robinson were transported by ambulance to the Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.  Due to the extent of their injuries, they were then transported to UNC Chapel Hill by Lifeline.

McGirt, confirms McDowell, was pronounced dead Thursday.  Robinson continues to receive treatment in the intensive care unit.

Police in Maxton are investigating what led to the shooting of two people in Robeson County Thursday.

According to police, authorities found a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man shot in the head on Henderson Circle in Maxton.  Officials say the girl who had been shot died at a local hospital Thursday evening.
