HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Four people have been taken into custody by police in Horry County after being linked to a number of car break-ins on Saturday morning.
Sgt. Robert Kegler of the Horry County Police Department says officers were dispatched Saturday morning to Olde Towne Way in Myrtle Beach in reference to people breaking into cars. As the officers arrived, one suspect was caught in the act and taken into custody immediately.
An investigation of the report continued and three other suspects were identified and located in a nearby vehicle. Kegler says $13,000 worth of property was seized from the four suspects.
Shawn Lamar Pavey, 17, of Surfside Beach, Dorian Joseph Miles, 20, of Murrells Inlet, Megan Brooke Fania, 18, of Surfside Beach and a 14-year-old juvenile were linked by police to six car break-ins. Kegler says additional charges could be pursued in the future.
Each suspect has been charged with six counts of breaking into a motor vehicle. Miles has also been charged with simple possession of marijuana and a violation of liquor law, while Fania was also found violating the same alcohol law.
Kegler says the suspects are linked to car break-ins at the apartments at Palmetto Pointe, the townhouses at Olde Towne Way, Carolina Forest and the Deerfield area.
