SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - With Hanna's potential of affecting the South Carolina coast later this week, school and community officials have begun to reschedule events that could be affected by the storm.

The following is a list of event cancellations and their re-scheduled dates and times:


  • Due to the projected approach of Tropical Storm Hanna, all Coastal Carolina University classes and events at all University locations will be cancelled beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 6. This includes all classes and events on Friday. Although no classes will be held, the University will be open on Friday. Employees are advised to consult with their supervisors regarding leave should they have concerns, as a liberal leave policy will be in effect.
  • The Chanticleer football game against Colgate University has been rescheduled to Sunday at 1 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.
  • The Commons will be open Thursday until 8:30 p.m. On Friday, Saturday andSunday, the Commons will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • CINO Grille will be open until 5 p.m. on Friday.
  • University Place Deli will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noonto 8 p.m.
  • Kimbel Library will follow its regular schedule on Friday, Saturday andSunday.
  • Campus Shuttles: The Bronze Shuttle will operate on Thursday until 8:30p.m. and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Gateway Shuttle (to Conway) will not operate on Saturday.
  • The Women's Soccer Tournament has been cancelled.
  • All residence halls will remain open.


  • All classes and events on all campuses of Horry-Georgetown Technical College are cancelled for Friday and Saturday. All employees, however, are expected to report as usual on Friday. Employees concerned about their safety should consult with their supervisors and request leave through the normal process. The College anticipates resuming a regular operating schedule Monday.


  • Myrtle Beach area locations of the Tidelands Bank will be closing at noon Friday due to inclement weather.  The two branches affected include the banks located on 1312 Professional Dr. in Myrtle Beach and 11915 Plaza Dr. in Murrells Inlet.
  • South Carolina Bank and Trust will be closing its Horry and Georgetown county locations at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5th in response to the voluntary evacuation of the area. Offices will re-open on Monday at 8:30 a.m., weather permitting.


  • Conway High School's varsity football game scheduled for Friday has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. 
  • Conway Health Department

  • Darlington High School's varsity football game, originally scheduled for Friday, has been rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Junior varsity games have been canceled.


  • All Georgetown County schools are closed Friday.
  • Georgetown County School District has either cancelled or rescheduled all after-school activities.
  • The Georgetown County School Board Candidate Forum has been rescheduled to 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the GHS auditorium.
  • Georgetown County Health Department

  • Hartsville High's varsity football team will play Richland Northeast in Columbia on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The junior varsity game has been canceled for this week.


  • All Horry County public schools will be closed on Friday. All 12-month employees are to report to work as usual. All activities and events scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6, have been cancelled.
  • All Horry County Government offices including all Horry County Memorial Libraries, all courts (Family Court, Circuit Court, and Magistrate courts), the Horry County Museum, and the Horry County Community Centers will be closed on Friday. County government offices will resume normal office hours on Monday.
  • The Lowcountry Day School in Pawleys Island will not be holding classes Friday.  All afternoon activities have been cancelled.
  • The Grand Strand Family YMCA will close Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
  • Hard Rock Park will be closed Friday through Sunday.
  • Barefoot Landing will close at 4 p.m. Friday and run on a one-hour delay Saturday.
  • The Inlet Square Mall will close at 6 p.m. Friday and operate on a regular schedule Saturday.
  • The Myrtle Beach Mall will close at 5 p.m. Friday and re-open for regular hours on Saturday.
  • The Tanger Outlets will close at 5 p.m. Friday and operate with regular hours Saturday.
  • The Coastal Grand Mall is closing at 6 p.m. Friday and will re-open on a regular schedule Saturday.
  • The CVS in Myrtle Baech will be closing two hours early Friday (at 8 p.m.) and will resume normal hours Saturday.
  • The Walgreens on 38th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach will close at 8 p.m. Friday.


  • Lamar High School has rescheduled this week's game in Lamar to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.


  • The Brookland-Cayce vs. Chapin High School varsity football game scheduled for Friday has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 4.  The game will take place at 7 p.m. at Chapin High School.
  • All B-Team and junior varsity games scheduled in Lexington 2 have been moved up to Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. or 7 p.m., respectively.  Games will take place at Brookland-Cayce High School.


  • Loris Health Department

  • Marion High School's varsity football game against Manning has been moved to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Manning. The junior varsity game will be played on Wednesday in Marion at 6 p.m.
  • Marion County Libraries will be closed Saturday and plan to re-open on Monday, Sept. 8.


  • The Myrtle Beach junior varsity football game against West Brunswick has been changed to Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m.  The JV game being held at West Brunswick will be followed by the varsity match-up. 
  • Webster University is closed Friday and Saturday.
  • Bridgewater Academy is closed Friday.
  • Due to the inclement weather conditions caused be Tropical Storm Hanna, Coastal Grand will be closing at 6 p.m. on Friday and will re-open at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Myrtle Beach Health Department
  • The Myrtle Beach Seventh-Day Adventist Church will hold no services Saturday.  Services will resume next Saturday at regular times.


  • Basil's Family Fun Run/Walk and the North Myrtle Beach Triathlon have been cancelled due to this weekend's impending inclement weather. The Fun Run was scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 5 and the triathlon was scheduled to take place Saturday, Sept. 6. Event organizers are looking at alternative dates to reschedule the events. More information will be released as events are rescheduled.
