MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WIS) -

With heavy rains hitting Myrtle Beach early Friday as Hurricane Florence made landfall in North Carolina, flash flood warnings have been in effect for areas in the Pee Dee.

The wind is also a factor, with gusts clocking in at 60 miles per hour.

Thousands of Pee Dee and Grand Strand residents are without power, just like thousands of residents along the Carolina coastline. There is no word on when that would be restored.

There are also a number of reported downed power lines in the area and strong storm surge expected on Saturday.

The powerful winds whipping around Myrtle Beach are blowing through nearby trees and shrubs, in addition to sands across the beach.

Conditions are expected to worsen as the Friday progresses and into the weekend.
