US Attorney in case against Brandon Council files motion to withdraw

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - One of the US attorneys in the case against Brandon Council filed a motion to withdraw as counsel Wednesday.

Julius Richardson asked the court to grant the motion and allow him to withdraw as co-counsel.

According to the document, Sherri Lyndon, Nathan Williams and Everett McMillan will continue representing the United States in this case.

This comes less than a week after prosecutors filed a notice of expert witness outlining experts expected to give testimony in the trial.

At this point, jury selection is set to begin October 1. A jury summons and questionnaire will be sent to 2,000 randomly chosen people from a statewide pool. The trial isn't slated to begin until January 2019.

Council is accused of killing Katie Skeen and Donna Major at the Conway CresCom Bank on August 21, 2017.

If convicted, Council faces the death penalty.
