ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – The body of a missing 27-year-old man was found in a pond Tuesday evening in the Lumberton area.
According to a news release from the Lumberton Police Department, Curtis Woodrow Jackson was reported missing around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Jackson's family said he checked into the Spring Hill Suites on Fayetteville Road where he changed clothes to go swimming and was not seen since.
Police say around 6:30 p.m., a resident in the area of the 400 block of Barker Ten Mile Road was checking the property and found Jackson face down in a pond that runs along the eastside of I-95 across from the Robeson Community College. He was identified by his clothes, a scar and a tattoo, the release says.
Jackson's body was sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
